Its sometime around the 11th or 12th. We've been here a week anyhow!
Ha. We move in, and they put up signs for the guests (Yes, thats plural now!) to keep quiet after 11pm. (The hostel had about 4 people in it for months before we arrive!)
Yesterday was pretty cool. Work got rained off around 1030am, then it continued to hammer it down for the next 12 hours...there were rivers flowing through the town / the celing. In fact, it was so bad, the other hostels celing was about to cave in, or catch alight. so we made a hasty retreat, watching Waynes World, and Team America on DVD.
Its also not common knowledge that the Fire alarms here in Australia arent set off by flames / heat, but actually water. They were going off constantly, so we turned them off at the mains, which worked for 2 hours, then the emergency power kicked in, and they started up again ALL SODDING NIGHT!
Who needs sleep anyways?? :)

FARM WORKING ACROSS THE UNIVERSE pt2
8/1/11 - Sewing the seeds of love. Well. Actually, pruning the vines of grapes, which is entirely unrelated. But nevermind.
Just a quick update, as I said before, not alot happens here. You can walk from one side of the town to the other in about 5mins. Its well small.
Anyways, we worked the last few days at this farm, pruning grapes. Its easy work, although my hands are covered in blisters from the Secateurs. Getting along okay at it, although the farmer seems to do about 3 rows to every one of our single one. Im sure hes some sort of robot! :)
We've got another few days work next week, then we get our first pay cheque on friday! Woohoo!
It got spent on a $10 box of goon, and then had a few drinks with Neil, Rusen, and this other Irish guy called Rory. We then went over to the other side of town, where another hostel was having a party. It was okay, but we got kicked out by this drunk crazy kiwi guy, so went back to our hostel. Played a few games of pool..
It was quite funny. This Canadian guy from the hostel called Jordagn ended up passing out on the pool table. Ha, then Rusen tried falling asleep, so we MAY have stolen her blanket and pillow, with a VERY pissed neil going 'Come on! Sure you're not going to bed! You're up drinking with the irish!', before promptly passing out on the floor of the room. Then a VERY SOBER me thinking 'Ill just listen to some bruce springstein on the laptop before i go to bed, because im STILL not drunk'. Then waking up 6 hours later with the worst goaonover ever. Sober my A**e! :)

FARM WORKING ACROSS THE UNIVERSE pt1
Hello! Its been ages since ive done this, apologies to all...im just out in the middle of sodding nowhere, where they havent invented internet yet, and they eat letters. A bit like the Aussie version of the deep south! :P
Anyways, Ive stolen my friends laptop, and am going to bash out everything ive been writing down for the past 2 months, so bare with me!
5/1/2011 - Torn away from melbourne, one hot, sunny, overall pleasant morning on a whim, and a stupid governments insistence that I have to work in an industy thats ravaged by the weather, and entirely unproductive!
The last few entries have been written out by hand, because there is nowhere in this town that has the internet. You dont actually need to know this, but the laptop is being gay, and wont switch off the BOLD type. So im writing this down so as to confuse it. I hate technology.
Ive moved to Red Cliffs, a town of 6000 people 16ks away from Mildura, on the Victoria / NSW border to start some farmwork...
Actually, the journey down was quite random...I book a ticket to go to mildura to get some work out of the way. Well, i nearly do, then my Friend Neil Dalton, who i knew from Habitat HQ in Melbourne rings me up. He'd spent $150 on a ticket to Queensland to do some farmwork (With the apocalypse up there, good bloody job he didnt!), then spent his last day in melbourne utterly wrecked, missed his flight because hed passed out (Elaine, another friend was slapping him pouring cold water on him, banging pans near his head, screaming. Nothing...lol, sound familiar dave? :P I think youve finally found your sleeping twin!). So I get a call, because he knows im heading off to do the farmwork too, and he ends up coming along with me. Whereas 1 hour later, id probably already be on the train...
So anyways, we book this place in Red Cliffs that was recommended by another mate, and head off. Then at the station, we run into our friend Rusen, who is also from Habitat, and had been travelling around Australia, and just randomly happened to be on the Same train, at the same place, in the same carriage (2 seats across from us!) to Mildura...
How f***ing random!
She was supposed to be going somewhere else in Mildura, but the guy didnt show up to give her a lift, and to be honest sounded a bit weird, so she came with us. Which was awesome!
So yes, now we're booked in. The town is REALLY quiet (anyone whos familar with Potton, its like that, but instead of some fairly interesting walks etc around, theres just grapes grapes and more grapes. And instead of a variety of pubs, theres one, which im staying in, and looks like something out of the Shinining. I keep expecting to see a kid on a bicycle running around any moment!
I was lucky with work, and got a job straight away pruning grape vines, with a 630am start. Eek!!

New Years 2010
Now, before i start, im going to give a bit of a disclaimer, because as i write this, im STILL off my tree. So theres quite a good chance this is going to go horribly wrong, but you know what they say. Strike whilst the Iron is hot.
Im not entirely sure this is why that saying was invented, or in any way the moral that it is trying to imply. But damn it, im drunk still, so going to use it anyways! :P
Right, so reverse back to yesterday. Its 40c, unbroken sunshine, bit windy, but absolutely blinding. Ive got all my stuff sorted, but there still isnt a clear plan about new years. So i do what I feel any self respecting brit would do. Made a vow that the beach, and all who sail in her, are mine.
So after a few drinks at the hostel, chilling, testing the water, I finally find a group of mates who are going down the beach. This suits me perfectly, so i grab a $10 bottle of goon, and a $6 bottle of passion pop for champagne for midnight (yes, it really is as bad as it sounds.), go round their house, and head down the beach.
Also, ive heard that the beach is dry on new years eve, so i cunningly bring my guitar along, and just stick all the alchaol in my guitar case. Problem bloody solved.
So i get down the beach, pass these group of people, and theyre like 'Wow! Are you busking?' so i said 'Well, no, im just carrying the alcahol in the case, im just heading down to watch the fireworks on the beach'. At which point they said 'look. Heres $20, play us 5 songs. Entertain me'
Well, i didnt need telling twice! :P I sat down, played a few songs (Wonderwall, Mr brightside, Creep, Better Man, and Elderly Woman i seem to remember), chatted away. They were a really cool group of people. Of course, by this time id completely lost my mates, but i didnt really care.
It turned out to be a good theme for the night. People just kept throwing money at me, and i wasnt even trying. Id just play mustang sally, and Mr Brightside over and over. I ended up the night $40 up, and that was after a pint or two in this bar, and a mcdonalds.
They went home again, but then another bloke who id met in this pub ages ago, with a mate of mine, and had ended up buying me beer all night for playing guitar then too gave me some Jager Bombs, Then i lost him, but found another group of mates up the beach.
Sat down with them, saw the fireworks at Christmas eve. Got a bit more money from busking, went back to a party round thier house, and that was basically that. Oh, Via Busking in Mcdonalds, and chatting up women there in the queue.
So as a summary, I wake up. Some women stole my Flip Flops, I stole some other flip flops that didnt fit, Gave them to another drunk woman, so im a set of footwear down. Ive got my little fingernail on my left hand painted red (Dont ask. Im sure i thought i was a part of some exclusive club yesterday! :) ) My guitar is now round my friends house, covered in Goon because the bag was leaking. My hat is round another friends house, because. Well, i dont even know why. Im sure i probably had no fecking reason.
Ive had pizza and a beer today for breakfast (at 1pm). And now im back over the edge and drunk again. So im responsibly not sobering up until tommorrow.
Its nice when you dont pay for a bloody thing isnt it?

Christmas 2011.
On the downside, I still have no bloody money, although after much ringing, shouting, and complaining, work were like 'oh. yeah, we owe you a weeks worth of pay dont we?'. Yes. Yes you do. *gives ex-boss a backhanded slap*
Still, on the upside Xmas was really really awesome. Christmas eve I had just about enough cash left over after busking and getting food, for a bottle of aldi's finest $2.50 wine. So i went out into St Kilda to do a bit more busking on xmas eve, and ran into a couple of mates from the hostel I used to stay at, who i havent seen in AAAGES!
Obviously we caught up, and they grabbed me a few pints, as long as I kept playing cheesy hits on the guitar, so that was really good. After that, I went over to Louise, Tara, and lukes place, the other side of the city. We stayed there, drank the rest of the wine, and then went out into town, where luke and Dara (another mate) kindly grabbed me a few more beers.
It was really good. This bar is called E Fifty Five, and you wouldnt know it was there, but its got loads of old, comfy couches in, and old TVS, and has a bit of a rough / seedy vibe. But in a good way. So yes, a very good lead in to xmas...
So Christmas. Christmas was MENTAL.
Xmas day, woke up, went round Zara and everyones house. They were to be our partners in crime for the assualt on St Kilda Beach for the day. It was great. we had a few drinks round their house, then went to the beach.
Theres a video on my facebook, but we came across a barbie-doll massacre, which appealed to my black sense of humour no end! So a good start. We then went to the beach, set up and started drinking and partying.
The barbeques were a slight washout. I cant remember who started them originally, but they just threw the firelighters on top and left them, so unsuprisingly, it didnt work. I did get one going, but by that time, everyone was moaning they were hungry, so we moved to this little park, with the public barbeques. There was this group of people whod gone out and got a little plastic xmas tree, and decorated it with beer cans. I thought this was awesome, and added a bit of a christmas vibe to a day, and was half way through complimenting the guys, when my mate Chads mates, came up with this massive 6-7ft tree! They'd found it at the side of the road, next to two shopping trolleys, so YOINK! we had that one.
Lol, decorated it with anything we could find, including this dead crab that another couple of mates who id met having a barbie a few weeks ago had found. Lol. Im not sure it'll ever catch on, but surely we get points for originality? :P
THEN after that, I tried my hand at cricket, using one of the dead crabs as a ball, got chatting to this canadian bird. Everyone else walked back to the beach, but us two hung around, where a group of french guys were playing bongo-drums and digeridoos. I think dead crab is an aphrodisiac, because me and this canadian were getting along like a house on fire, just kicking back and enjoying the vibes.
Then after a while, went back down the beach, met up with the other guys, a load of randoms wanted to hear a few songs on the guitar (yes, i take it EVERYWHERE. You never know when you might be able to use it to break the ice / blag free stuff! :P).
Then I rang up Home, and also spoke to my mate Dave (peers), Jess, and his family. That was really nice, good to hear everyone again! I did manage to lose the canadian bird in the meantime, but never mind. It didnt matter, because then another group of mates (Elaine, Neil, Don, and his gf) came down, and I hung out with them and had a good craic on the beach. I think theyd taken a little bit more than just beer and cheap wine though, but id managed to get myself on the same level with cheap goon by that point, so it didnt matter!
Then after another few hours, we dragged the xmas tree which wed put in the sand over to this group of people trying to start a fire, and set fire to the thing, and chatted well into the morning. Then about 1am I finally gave up, and went to bed, getting in about 130am. Forgetting that, the next day i had to be up at 8am for the Cricket.
BOXING DAY.
Now i really dont have any money, id left most of the alcahol id scraped together on the beach, and...well, Id had enough tell the truth, so It was a sober day for me. Pretty damn good though, Me, Paul Welland, and a load of his mates brought tickets to the boxing day test months ago.
It was really really good. My 1st cricket match, and wed run australia out for 98 by the afternoon tea break, and thats WITH rain stopping play for an hour or so earlier (we all went down this pub round the corner). So yes, Saw England field, and Saw them bat, and saw the aussies get owned. After that though, and the last few days i was completely demolished. I just went back, watched Titanic on TV (That film goes on for bloody ever. I mean, seriously, did they need to put in all that rubbish before the boat actually sinking?? Pah. If i had the energy i would have got up to change the channel. But i didnt.
And now here I am. The money situations stupid now, but i cant get any more money until work pay me, so i can get a sodding train ticket from this place to do some farm work. Ill give it another 2 days, and then ill go round the account managers house, and kick him in the nuts i think. Or i might just do it anyways. Im done with melbourne now.
So yes. A very very good christmas indeed!

(T)IIIIIIITS CHRISTMAS!!
Hey, just a pre-christmas catch up with everyone! Its been a bit quiet lately, because ive been seriously poor still. I rectified this by getting a job with an outbound call centre for a bit, but unfortunately, i ignored my finely tuned pikey radar, and worked with them for a week, before realising that i was working for a bunch of pikey, money grabbing, robbing bar-stewards.
It was an outbound call centre, I was going to stick at it for a few weeks, but got into a bit of an argument with the boss on how shite the training was, and i couldnt sell, if i didnt actually really know what it was im selling. So he let me go. Still, made about $600 in pay, which wasnt that bad. They said id get it in a week, then they said 'oh no, actually, its two weeks'. Now two weeks and a day have passed, and i still dont have my sodding money...Which is nice over xmas! Should have seen it coming.
Its fairly annoying, because that was my xmas money, and i was also going to book myself a ticket to Mildurra to do some farmwork with it, but obviously, if i dont have the money, then i cant do that yet *sigh*.
Saying that though, its not all been bad. Last weekend was pretty fun. Everyone in the house has gone off to sydney for xmas / new years, and Joel my roommate isnt even coming back..hes off to newzealand, and then going home!
Because of that, we all had a proper Christmas roast dinner, with turkey, stuffing, roast potatos sprinkled in Parmasan cheese (fecking gorgeous!) and cauliflour cheese (really fecking gorgeous, specially considering i dont like cauliflour!) and the works. Although we had passion pop instead of wine, to give it the backpacker touch! It was really good. After that we had a game of charades / pictionary on this blackboard that me and gosbee stole a few weeks ago, when he was over. That was really fun. Youll have to see some of the pictures. Im waiting for my 'Timberlake - Sexy back' charade to come up on facebook. it was a work of *coughs* art. :P
Then after that, I played for an hour at a gig for earth hour, and got fifty bucks and a crate of beer, which was better than a kick in the teeth. ran into a friend id met up in sydney a while ago, and lost touch with, so that was also cool. Ill probably catch up with her later..
Oh, and the night before, everyone in the house was going to go down the casino, so (probably rather stupidly consdiering the financial situation) I went there too. Just took $20...made $20, lost $35, but never mind. I hadnt been to this one yet, and had heard it was a really nice place to go out, so i thought id give it a go. It wasnt a bad night out, but i think that was more the company than anything else. Its just a casino at the end of the day.
I think im only saying that, because i didnt win $2'000'000! :P
This weekend, obviously funds depending, a load of mates are going for a meal tonight at a resteraunt, and then having a bbq on the beach tommorrow. Ill definately be going to the bbq, but i think i might give the resteraunt a miss. Cook myself a staple meal of Tuna, pasta, and onion instead! :P mmm...
Oh, and boxing day, ive got the tickets to the ashes with Paul Welland, his gf Phoebe, and a load of his mates, so that should be really good. Hopefully the good weather'll hold. theres talk of rain, which would be bloody annoying!

LAAAST NIGHT,,,
Well, I slept actually. But the two nights before were a bit manic, and free!
On friday I was in town just doing a bit of busking, when a friend of mine (Elaine) who i hadnt seen in ages rang me, and asked if i wanted to go for a drink. This place was only round the corner, so i thought 'why not?'
Got there, got the cheapest $4 schooner of beer i could, then nurtured it, chatted away. That was all good, It was really nice to see her again. Then, as i was leaving, this really cool bunch of irish saw my guitar which id brought in, and said 'ah, can you play ous a sang?' (yes. Thats how bad my irish accent REALLY is'). so i agreed.
They then proceeded to buy me beer ALL night. I was absolutely hammered. So drunk in fact, i put my glasses somewhere safe when i walked in, and STILL cant find them. Which is fun. Im having to use sunglasses at the mo, which are fun in the 30c heat. and unbroken sunshine in the daytime. AS SOON as it gets to night, I cant see a bloody thing!
So yes. Saturday, i woke up, felt like death warmed up, but it was 33c, so i dragged myself out of bed, went down to the beach, did a bit more busking (ish. What i was actually doing was playing guitar, staring at all the amazingly good looking, pretty much naked women, and not giving a damn if i got paid or not! :P), then a bloke id met randomly on the beach ages ago, whod got me drunk for playing guitar then, walked past, recognised me, and then dragged me (yes. thats right, DRAGGED kicking and screaming! :p) to a BBQ, where I got fed MORE BEER...
So that was real nice. there was masses of people, and loads of guitarists. We were all having a jam into the night...twas great!
On other news, quickly because i have 3 mins left on my computer, My carwash job fell through. the blokes an idiot, and kept calling me up, then changing his mind, Im hearing about another 2 jobs by thursday, and ive got an interview for a call centre tommorrow at 12pm.
So yes. Hopefeully ill get one of those jobs otherwise im buggered money-wise. But never mind! Something'll turn up!
